Senior Traffic Engineer
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects and teams on adaptive signal systems, innovative intersections, TSMO/ATMS, managed lanes, and complete street projects.
- Conduct traffic safety/operations studies, develop Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, and VISUM models.
- Design traffic control devices (signals, signing, pavement markings, lighting), work zone traffic control, ITS, and CAV projects.
- Work on projects ranging from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects.
- Potential client site work and infrequent travel.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering (M.S. preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Certified PTOE.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic/ITS engineering.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, and Highway Safety Manual.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, VISUM.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently and cooperatively.
- Experience in proposal development, project management, and contract management.
- Experience with VDOT preferred.
