Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solid Waste/Landfill Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental engineering, with a focus on solid waste management and landfill operations. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and management of landfill projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and implementing sustainable waste management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and oversee the construction and operation of landfill sites.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Develop and implement waste management plans and recycling programs.
- Monitor and manage landfill gas and leachate collection systems.
- Perform site inspections and audits to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Prepare technical reports, permits, and documentation.
- Collaborate with other engineers, environmental scientists, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in solid waste management and landfill engineering.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in engineering design software and tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
