Role Overview
The team is looking for an experienced Senior Structural engineer to join their Albany or Syracuse offices where you'll play a pivotal role in leading structural engineering projects of all sizes and complexities. This role involves guiding projects from initial client interaction through construction completion, ensuring high standards of quality control, adherence to schedules, and efficient resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead engineer on projects, overseeing all technical and managerial aspects.
- Maintain direct communication with clients, ensuring expectations are understood and met.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Perform detailed structural analysis and develop design solutions using industry-standard techniques.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project staff.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with design codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, contractors, and other consultants.
Key Skills Required
- Expertise in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, or similar).
- In-depth knowledge of building materials (e.g., steel, concrete, timber) and construction methods.
- Strong understanding of local and international building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ACI, ASCE).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong organizational skills for resource allocation and schedule planning.
- Analytical thinking to devise innovative approaches to structural challenges.
- Adaptability in addressing unexpected project issues.
- Experience in leading project teams and fostering team development.
- Skills in mentoring junior staff to grow their technical and project management abilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer license required; SE license a plus.
- 9+ years in structural engineering or related field.
