We are looking for a Senior Estimator for a reputable mechanical contractor to lead their estimating team.
Responsibilities Include:
- Oversee the estimating, including writing proposal letters and completing bid forms and breakouts.
- Participate in bid review meetings before submitting proposals.
- Track all addenda, scope changes, and breakouts to ensure timely processing and incorporation into estimates.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders about project specifications, scope, reports, value engineering opportunities, timelines, and other bid-related issues.
- Verify the systems specifications summary.
- Lead the take-off team in project page turns to ensure complete and accurate take-offs.
- Perform quantity takeoffs of equipment/fixtures and review project plans/specifications to fully understand the project's scope.
- Identify any missing pricing for labor, scope, and materials.
- Review vendor and subcontractor scope letters for accuracy, maintaining relationships and communicating with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors about scope, missing pricing, and breakouts needed to complete bids on time.
- Coordinate the pre-construction interface between sales and estimating to optimize estimating capacity and capabilities for achieving sales and marketing goals.
- Utilize market condition information, customer needs, competition capabilities, market niche histories, and internal resource availability to meet current and projected workload needs.
- Develop, monitor, and manage department processes and procedures to maximize productivity while minimizing risk.
- Work under limited guidance with broad general supervision.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental goals.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience estimating mechanical construction projects, with a minimum of 3 years in a project management role.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
