We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Electrical Engineering Lead to oversee and guide the electrical engineering team remotely, focusing on projects within Michigan. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and a strong background in designing and managing complex electrical systems, particularly in commercial and educational facilities, including K-12. As a Senior Lead, you will manage projects from concept through completion, ensuring that designs meet regulatory standards, client specifications, and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Lead the design of electrical power, lighting, life safety, and security systems for commercial and K-12 educational buildings.
- Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Project Management:
- Manage electrical engineering projects from initial concept to completion.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other key stakeholders.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide guidance in selecting electrical power, lighting, life safety, and security systems and components.
- Conduct detailed site inspections to assess design feasibility and compliance.
- Perform load calculations, lighting calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash hazard assessments, and other necessary engineering calculations.
- Specify lighting controls and luminaires to meet standards and client needs.
- Select and size standby power systems.
- Specify auxiliary systems, including fire alarms and access controls, and coordinate with CCTV and other low-voltage system consultants.
Quality Assurance:
- Review, approve, sign, and seal electrical engineering documents and deliverables.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure design accuracy and completeness.
- Address and resolve technical issues during construction.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentor and train junior engineers and support staff, fostering continuous learning.
- Lead design review meetings, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
Client Interaction:
- Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements and offer technical solutions.
- Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and technical presentations.
- Ensure client satisfaction through clear communication and effective project management.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years in electrical engineering, with K-12 design experience preferred.
- Strong project management and design skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
- PE license in Michigan or eligibility for reciprocity.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in electrical design and lighting calculation software, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
- Solid knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and willing to travel within Michigan as needed.
