Role Overview
The firm is looking for a building envelope consultant with 8 to 10 years of professional experience to help lead project teams and deliver high-quality results. The role involves overseeing projects from inception to completion, including technical development, construction administration, and management of clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of creativity, technical expertise, and leadership skills to support multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple FISP/LL11 projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and alignment with the firm's objectives, under the guidance of senior leadership.
- Create architectural plans and details, developing innovative and practical solutions while conducting thorough material and product research.
- Navigate the permitting process with the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and ensure full compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Apply expertise in NYC Planning and Zoning Resolutions to assess their impact on project sites.
- Oversee the preparation and review of technical drawings, ensuring all details meet project standards and compliance.
- Assist in construction administration, including conducting site visits, surveys, and inspections.
- Research and identify new materials and products, assisting in the development of detailed specifications.
- Update and expand CAD, Revit, and Rhino libraries with new design details and components.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited university (Master's degree preferred but not required).
- Licensed Architect in the state of New York.
- Extensive proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Suite, and Adobe Suite.
- Familiarity with Rhino, 3D Max, SketchUp, and other modeling software.
- At least 5 years of practical experience with on-site construction and project coordination.
- At least 3 years of experience leading construction document production and technical drawing detailing.
- Capacity to translate design intent into fabrication drawings.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication in a workshop environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for emails, reports, and specifications.
