Position Overview:
We have an exciting career opportunity for a motivated individual with the potential to advance to a VP-level role within 2-4 years. The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in expanding the company's Control Systems Integration and Services division across the U.S. This role focuses on identifying and developing new target accounts through a combination of sales, proposal development, and marketing activities. It's an ideal fit for an experienced systems or project engineer looking to transition into business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to identify potential new customers and maintain a targeted list, including gathering key sales contact details.
- Initiate contact with new prospects through cold calling, emails, and social media; utilize networking to turn cold leads into warm prospects.
- Visit pre-qualified potential clients to discuss the company's capabilities and explore opportunities for future control system projects.
- Track sales activities, maintain detailed contact records, and monitor the status of opportunities with target accounts.
- Develop sales proposals for control system integration and services, including document preparation and cost estimation, following established company practices.
- Follow up on proposals, utilizing technical sales skills to secure contracts.
- Explore, develop, and measure the effectiveness of new marketing methods, such as social media and online marketing campaigns.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Background in control system engineering, proposal engineering, or sales, with a strong desire to move into business development.
- A degree in engineering, technical, or scientific disciplines is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong work ethic and a desire for professional growth.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently on multiple projects.
- Dependable, with a commitment to follow through on responsibilities.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
- Previous sales experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience with telemarketing or cold-calling is an advantage but not required.
- Familiarity with using social media for business promotion is beneficial but not essential.
- Willingness to travel to industrial client sites both locally and throughout the U.S. (15-30%).
