A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking a Wetland Permitting Specialist to join our dynamic team in California. This role is essential for supporting our clients in navigating the complexities of wetland regulations and securing the necessary permits for projects across various sectors, including development, infrastructure, and restoration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wetland science, permitting processes, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct wetland delineations and assessments in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and submit permit applications for wetland impacts to relevant agencies, including the Army Corps of Engineers and regional water quality control boards.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop mitigation plans and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
- Provide technical guidance on wetland regulations, including the Clean Water Act and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders throughout the permitting process.
- Conduct field surveys and collect data to support project assessments and compliance monitoring.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation related to wetland permitting and mitigation.
- Stay current with changes in wetland regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in wetland permitting or related environmental consulting work.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state wetland regulations and permitting processes.
- Proficiency in wetland delineation methodologies and ecological assessment techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with GIS and data analysis tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for fieldwork as needed.
