Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of contract documents for the design of water distribution and sanitary sewer systems, including both separate and combined systems.
- Develop detailed work plans and man-hour budgets, and seek approval from the Department Manager.
- Monitor project timelines and capital budgets to ensure client satisfaction while maintaining control over work quality and productivity.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance processes for water and wastewater design projects.
- Manage project productivity, striving to meet established goals for profit, efficiency, and timely deliverables.
- Coordinate and implement engineering methodologies for water and wastewater design projects.
- Maintain regular communication with professional engineering consultants, government agencies, communities, and contractors regarding project planning, design, and permitting for water and wastewater systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical papers, plans, specifications, and permit applications for water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipes, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
- Plan and guide the development of water supply, transmission, and distribution projects, including the creation and review of conceptual designs.
- Review and finalize construction documents and specifications.
- Lead the design, preparation of studies, and contract documents for wastewater and water supply infrastructure projects.
- Review utility connection applications for municipal and utility authority clients.
- Act as Client Manager when needed, managing all aspects of client relations.
- Actively participate in business development and pursue new project opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8-15 years of experience in civil/environmental engineering, with a focus on water and wastewater design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Experience in water and wastewater treatment plant process design is a plus.
- Familiarity with water department regulations and combined sewer system design
- Strong communication and client management skills.
- Proven track record in developing business and securing new project opportunities.
