Role Overview: VDC Technology Specialist
The VDC Technology Specialist will play a key role in improving BIM technology workflows in the Virtual Design & Construction department. The role focuses on database maintenance, ensuring continuity between various teams. The main priority is to fully implement Revit Fabrication and manage large selections of Autodesk BIM360 products. Additional responsibilities include developing production tracking reports for all BIM modeling personnel and creating VDC standards documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Handle fabrication database content for Revit Fabrication, CADmep, ESTmep, and CAMduct.
- Implementation: Roll out new software, processes, procedures, and workflows.
- Support Documentation: Create and manage work instructions for project support activities.
- Project Setup: Establish Revit projects and update files throughout their lifecycle, including project-driven database content.
- Project Management: Oversee projects within Autodesk BIM360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Price & Labor Updates: Maintain accurate material list pricing and labor rates in BIM and estimating databases.
- BIM Project Setup: Ensure BIM projects use accurate material pricing and factored labor estimates from Fabrication profiles.
- Technical Expert: Serve as a VDC integration expert with manufacturing shop management software.
- Reporting: Generate reports using Revit and Fabrication CADmep, including BOMs, Hanger reports, and more.
- Mentorship: Provide training and support to team members on all VDC software.

Vendor Coordination:
- Content Downloads: Work with vendors to integrate their models per standards.
- Submittal Review: Conduct equipment submittal reviews and verify dimensions.
Strategic Leadership:
- Lead initiatives to advance construction workflows by creating dynamic BIM models for real-time updates.
- Drive improvements in construction productivity through better BIM data feedback.
- Utilize completed BIM models for estimate comparisons.
- Support modeling, drawing production, and QA/QC as directed.
Supervisory / Budgetary / External Communication Responsibility:
- Individual Contributor Role: No direct reports but requires strong relationship-building skills for internal and external communication success.
