Qualifications

Responsibilities
- As a Traffic Design Engineer in Training, you will collaborate with our experienced Engineers and Project Managers to develop plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for traffic engineering improvements.
- Work on projects aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency for various transportation modes, including vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, and public transit (such as Light Rail and Bus Rapid Transit).
- The position focuses on gaining practical experience in engineering design projects.
- You'll have opportunities to develop project management skills, become a technical expert, and/or focus on business development.
- Gain hands-on experience by working on diverse traffic engineering design projects with the guidance of skilled team members.
- Develop PS&E for roadway lighting, permanent signage, pavement markings, traffic signals, signal interconnect systems/fiber optic communications, and temporary traffic control plans.
- Perform fieldwork to inspect existing traffic systems (such as signage, lighting, and signals) and observe traffic conditions.
- Carry out periodic inspections and provide engineering support during construction phases.
- Gain exposure to projects involving transportation technology and transportation planning.
- Work on impactful projects across the state of California and within your local community.
