Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer who can leverage advanced engineering concepts with minimal oversight. This role involves gathering and analyzing field data or project information to create innovative solutions and approaches that serve our clients' needs. Experience in one or more of the following industries is desirable: Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Polymers, Utilities, Energy, and Manufacturing. Occasional travel to client sites, both locally and out of state, may be required for meetings and data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently restore complex steel structures, foundations, masonry, and concrete elements.
- Lead the restoration of intricate load-bearing structures, including buildings, platforms, and pipe racks, and oversee the evaluation of proposed construction materials.
- Prepare detailed blueprint or specification packages, including scopes of work for bidding and construction.
- Conduct investigations to identify causes of structural failures or damages and compile reports detailing findings.
- Utilize restoration assumptions supported by structural theory and past experiences to streamline processes and foster innovative solutions to technical challenges.
- Review structural steel shop drawings, concrete submittals, and other material submissions for compliance with project specifications.
- Address contractor Requests for Information (RFI) related to assigned projects.
- May assume the role of Project Manager for certain civil/structural initiatives, depending on expertise.
- Contribute to the enhancement of departmental standards and software management as needed.
- Identify and rectify discrepancies with meticulous attention to detail.
- Collect data through field observations and collaborate with clients and other engineering disciplines to effectively produce Civil/Structural documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering; must be a licensed Professional Engineer in one or more states.
12 to 20 years of relevant experience as a civil/structural engineer.
Strong understanding of building codes pertinent to civil/structural restoration.
Utilizes extensive experience and judgement to achieve project goals.
May lead and mentor other engineers and designers on projects, serving as a technical resource for the team and ensuring quality of work.
Proficient in reviewing work for adherence to engineering standards, codes, and overall completeness.
Preferred experience includes basic surveying for project elevation determinations and limited stormwater/sewer design for small-scale systems.
Must thrive in a dynamic team environment with multiple deadlines and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skilled in Microsoft Office, STAAD, and AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, RISA, Tekla Tedds, and other engineering software is advantageous but not mandatory.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
Willingness to undergo a background check, including employment verification, criminal history, and educational verification.
Must pass a drug test post-offer.
A valid driver's license is required.
