Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations with the aid of computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.
- Create structural design plans and details in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Coach and Mentor more junior staff.
- Perform site visits, make observations of ongoing construction progress, and survey the structural components of existing buildings.
- Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines.
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFI's.
- Perform QA/QC related tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
- 10+ years of professional structural engineering experience required.
- AutoCAD proficiency required.
- Proficient in Revit required.
- Possess an intermediate to advanced understanding of structural design software such RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, SAFE, PROFIS, etc. with a willingness to learn and adapt to new software.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new software and client needs.
- Understanding of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood design principles.
- Knowledge of current building and material design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530 or NDS.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Able to work independently and also collaboratively on a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
