A midstream energy company focused on the development and implementation of hydrogen infrastructure and technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Engineer. The main focus of this position will be on static equipment for their hydrogen and ammonia division projects. You will support the design of pressure vessels, columns & towers and atmospheric ammonia storage tanks that are engineered and constructed. The Engineer-Static Equipment will review the design of static equipment and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure a safe and proper design. This role will also provide essential technical expertise for the Ammonia Terminal and other ongoing projects.
Senior Principal Engineer - Static Equipment Responsibilities:
- Serve as the single point of contact for pressure vessels, tanks, columns, towers, and ancillary equipment for ATR-based ammonia and liquefied ammonia storage, including creating estimates, execution strategies, and technical risk statements.
- Responsible for the detailed mechanical engineering of pressure vessels, cryogenic distillation columns, internals, and other cryogenic equipment being procured.
- Complete pressure boundary calculations to meet specific codes (e.g., ASME sections).
- Provide detailed analysis of wind, seismic, shipping, and support designs.
- Specify various non-rotating equipment, including heat exchangers, V-wire screens, and demisters.
- Review and validate supplier calculations and drawings to ensure purchased equipment complies with codes and specifications.
- Interact with fabrication facilities, including occasional onsite visits.
- Conduct vendor inspections and provide construction/start-up support.
- Support project development and initiatives.
- Actively collaborate with internal teams and external third parties to meet project commitments, costs, and schedules. Support equipment and labor estimates for proposed projects and bidding activities.
- Collaborate with a variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Perform other daily, weekly, monthly, or special projects as assigned.
Senior Principal Engineer - Static Equipment Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Must qualify as "Responsible Charge" per ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1,2 at a minimum.
- 20 years of experience in engineering/design of pressure vessels or similar, preferably in ATR-based ammonia plants.
- Strong working knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger design codes, including ASME BPVC Section VIII, GB, GOST, KGSC, etc.
- Experience with manufacturing design and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with pressure vessel design software such as COMPRESS.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including but not limited to Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
- Strong technical skills in the design of pressure vessels and heat exchangers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to require work schedules, and follow company policies.
- Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines and prioritize work.
