Senior Fire Protection Design Engineer
Location: Dulles, VA (hybrid flexible)
Salary: $105,000-145,000
Position Summary:
My client, a prominent player in the construction and engineering industry, seeks a skilled Senior Fire Protection Design Engineer to join their team. This role is responsible for providing engineering design for specific fire protection projects, managing the end-to-end design process, and overseeing less-experienced engineers on both small and large projects. The ideal candidate will be capable of developing fire sprinkler systems from concept through listing and fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a design expert at project team design meetings.
Prepare complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating.
Create and finalize engineering and shop drawings, specifications, calculations, and material submittals from conceptual stage through listing and fabrication.
Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with construction documents and address design issues during the construction phase.
Supervise or guide junior engineers in fire sprinkler design and document production.
Qualifications for Success:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection design.
PE License required.
Strong knowledge of applicable system designs and a general understanding of other trade/system operations.
Proficiency in reading construction documents.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with all levels of employees, clients, and general contractors.
Strong public speaking skills.
Advanced computer skills, including Revit and Microsoft Office products such as Excel.
