Job Summary, Senior Site Manager:
We are seeking a Senior Civil Site Manager to join their dynamic team. This pivotal role serves as the primary liaison for suppliers, general contractors, and subcontractors at project sites. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Lead Site Supervisor oversees and reports on construction progress, ensuring adherence to project time-lines and budgets. This position requires frequent travel and the flexibility to relocate based on project needs.
Heavy civil experience is highly desired due to the amount of earthwork, ground compaction, erosion control and SWPPP work required for these projects. Renewable Energy expertise is not required and will be taught on the job.
Responsibilities, Senior Site Manager:
- Lead and coordinate on-site activities, including oversight of general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors involved in solar energy projects, including substation and Option to Build Switch-yards.
- Act as the Owner's representative overseeing construction activities, including road construction, structural components, low and high-voltage electrical systems, substation installation, and solar panel deployment.
- Collaborate closely with project development, finance, and management teams to manage subcontracts, scheduling, change orders, and project costs.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, conducting site QA/QC activities and promptly addressing issues.
- Prioritize tasks to meet project objectives, including deadlines, cost targets, and schedules.
- Participate in equipment and material inspections, maintaining meticulous project records.
- Promote a culture of safety on-site, ensuring contractors adhere to safety protocols and Site Specific Safety Plans.
- Represent the organization professionally with stakeholders such as landowners, utilities, local officials, and project partners.
- Oversee commissioning activities and ensure compliance with engineer's and manufacturer's specifications.
- Lead punch list coordination and support post-Substantial Completion activities.
- Occasionally provide emergency support to Asset Management and O&M teams.
- Obtain SWPPP Certification within 60 days of assignment in designated states.
- Travel regularly and potentially relocate to various job sites across the Southeastern United States every 6-12 months.
- Supervise up to 2 Associate Site Managers and/or Site Managers, providing mentorship and training as needed.
- Assist with punch list closure and conduct post-Substantial Completion reviews.
- Manage site visits for Independent Engineers and third-party inspectors, ensuring thorough documentation and review of commissioning processes.
Requirements, Senior Site Manager
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED; Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Apprenticeship preferred; Journeyman Electricians preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in solar power construction.
- Proven ability to oversee site construction activities effectively.
- Preferred OSHA 30 Certification.
- Experience with heavy civil or electrical projects, particularly in multi-disciplined renewable energy settings.
- Strong comprehension of civil and electrical plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with proficient problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledgeable about solar power plant construction and operations.
- Familiarity with solar site troubleshooting, transformer testing, and commissioning processes preferred.
- Proficiency in Procore, Box, and Microsoft suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
Location
This position involves assignments at various work sites throughout the Southeastern United States.
