Position Overview:
As an Environmental Compliance Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental policies and practices to minimize the environmental impact of our operations. Your expertise will help guide our sustainability efforts and ensure we meet our environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage permits and compliance programs across various environmental media, such as air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, storage tanks, and EPCRA (Tier II, TRI).
- Conduct multi-media environmental compliance audits and assessments, including gap analyses, inspections, and program reviews.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of monitoring and spill prevention plans and programs, including SPCC, FRP, SWPPP, and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans.
- Provide leadership and oversight to junior staff for specific project assignments, ensuring effective project execution.
- Lead or support proposal preparation, including defining scope and estimating costs.
- Manage project budgets and assist with invoicing as a project or task manager.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal practice leaders.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and responsiveness to client needs.
- Manage and deliver multiple projects and tasks efficiently, adhering to budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
- Prepare technical documentation including reports, plans/programs, permit applications, and other written deliverables.
- Train and mentor junior staff to support their professional development.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to support projects across the United States.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental compliance engineering or a related role.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards, including but not limited to EPA, OSHA, and state-specific requirements.
- Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments, audits, and compliance investigations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with environmental management systems (EMS) and sustainability initiatives is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as Professional Environmental Engineer (PE) or similar credentials are highly desirable.
