A national civil consulting firm is seeking an experienced and driven Survey Manager to lead its surveying and mapping projects in Portland, Oregon. This role requires a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) certification in Washington or Oregon and is ideal for someone with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in surveying, including at least 2 years of project management experience. The Survey Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Land Surveying (LS) team, ensuring adherence to both internal standards and external regulatory requirements. You will work closely with their local team and clients to deliver accurate, high-quality surveying services using advanced technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage surveying and mapping projects.
- Utilize advanced methods like LiDAR mapping, drones, GPS technologies, and conventional survey techniques.
- Coordinate field survey activities and day-to-day operations.
- Perform office tasks including field note reductions, traverse adjustments, and topographic map preparation.
- Conduct post-processing, quality assurance/quality control, and deliverable generation.
- Use GPS TPS, 3D Laser Scanning, and Photogrammetric technologies for data collection and survey control.
- Develop relationships with organizational leaders, stakeholders, and clients.
- Understand business needs and recommend appropriate surveying methods.
- Supervise and guide the LS team throughout project phases.
- Evaluate individual performances and identify training gaps.
- Recommend improvements for training programs.
- Contribute to the development of the LS department.
- Evaluate equipment needs, coordinate maintenance and repairs.
- Integrate innovative Survey, Mapping, and Geomatics technologies.
Minimum Requirements:
- PLS certification in Washington or Oregon
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in surveying.
- At least 2 years of project management experience.
- Business development experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Civil3D, Microstation (Inroads/Openroads), Microsoft Suite, Starnet, and Leica office software.
