This role provides an opportunity to lead engineering efforts on projects that involve designing, modifying, and analyzing electrical systems, spanning from plant retrofits to new generation facilities.
Responsibilities include...
- Creating power distribution designs, drafting equipment specifications, and overseeing installation needs.
- Assisting project managers to ensure timely, budget-friendly completion while maintaining compliance with codes and client expectations.
- Preparing design drawings, conducting calculations (e.g., voltage drop, arc flash), coordinating with vendors, and mentoring junior engineers.
- Travel is required for reviews and fieldwork. Hybrid schedule: three in-office days per week.
Lead Electrical Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program; power systems emphasis preferred.
- PE license preferred or required to obtain.
- 10+ years of experience in power or industrial plant design, focusing on integrated system design for new or existing facilities.
- Proficient in selecting equipment, materials, control philosophies, and preparing calculations/specifications.
- Expertise in medium/low voltage electrical systems (e.g., transformers, motors) and communication systems.
- Skilled in ETAP or SKM for analytical calculations.
- Knowledgeable in power distribution equipment and experienced in client liaison roles.
- Based in Tampa, FL, with occasional travel.
Valued Skills (Optional):
- Instrumentation and controls engineering, project management, and construction/start-up experience.
