With such a large project pipeline of DOT work, they're looking to expand their team, with a Geotechnical Engineer who can manage projects and mentor staff engineers.
Job Description:
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing complex geotechnical projects, providing advanced technical expertise, and mentoring junior engineers. This role is vital in allowing the Branch Manager to focus on business development and expanding the company's presence in the Tampa area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including fieldwork, laboratory testing, and data analysis. Provide expert guidance on soil mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and other geotechnical challenges.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple geotechnical projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train junior and mid-level geotechnical engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring that they adhere to best practices and company standards.
- Design and Analysis: Prepare and review detailed geotechnical reports, including recommendations for foundation design, earthworks, and ground improvement. Utilize advanced geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, LPILE) for complex analyses.
- Collaboration: Work closely with civil and structural engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure seamless integration of geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
- Quality Control: Review and approve technical work performed by junior engineers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
- Support Branch Growth: Assist the Branch Manager by leading technical efforts, enabling them to focus on business development, client acquisition, and expanding the firm's market presence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida.
- 5-10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record in project management, foundation design, and complex geotechnical analysis.
- Expertise in geotechnical software and strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and training engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of local and national building codes, as well as environmental regulations.
