This client is a leader in the forensic engineering world, specializing in damage analysis and failure investigation across various industries. As part of their growing team, you will have the opportunity to provide expert analysis and reporting on structural damage caused by severe weather events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and thunderstorms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct On-Site Assessments: Visit storm-affected sites to assess the damage caused by high winds, heavy rain, hail, and flooding to residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
- Analyze Structural Failures: Investigate and evaluate the integrity of buildings and infrastructure, identifying failures in roofing systems, walls, foundations, and other structural elements.
- Prepare Detailed Reports: Compile comprehensive forensic engineering reports, including the cause of failure, the extent of the damage, and recommendations for repairs or reconstruction.
- Collaborate with Clients: Work closely with insurance companies, legal teams, property owners, and contractors to provide expert opinions, support litigation, and offer technical solutions for remediation.
- Data Collection & Documentation: Collect evidence and conduct detailed documentation, including photographs, material sampling, and measurements to support forensic investigations.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all investigations and reports adhere to local building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Expert Testimony: Provide expert testimony in court or arbitration cases related to storm damage claims, when necessary.
- Stay Current: Maintain knowledge of the latest developments in forensic engineering, weather-related damage patterns, and emerging technologies in structural analysis.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in forensic engineering, with a focus on storm damage assessment preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Proficiency in forensic tools and software for structural analysis.
- Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-stress environments.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform on-site inspections, including climbing roofs, entering confined spaces, and working in adverse weather conditions.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with hurricane, tornado, and flood damage assessment techniques.
- Background in working with insurance companies or legal teams on damage claims.
- Expertise in structural design and failure modes of building materials (concrete, steel, wood, etc.).
- Certification in wind engineering or related storm damage assessment credentials is a plus.
