Associate Principal / Studio Director Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Associate Principal / Studio Director. The ideal candidate is a visionary with a strong architectural background, proven leadership, and an entrepreneurial spirit. This individual will initially lead the studio's day-to-day operations as Studio Director, overseeing projects, mentoring teams, and driving operational excellence. Within a few years, the role will evolve into a broader leadership position as a Principal, contributing to the firm's strategic growth and long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities
**Leadership & Strategy**
- Lead day-to-day studio operations.
- Provide strategic direction to align projects with design excellence and business goals.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities.
- Delegate design management tasks to enhance efficiency.
- Expand AI-driven initiatives for project planning and quality control.
- Participate in firm-wide initiatives and process improvements.
**Project & Operations Management**
- Manage multiple projects from inception to completion.
- Monitor project progress to ensure scope, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Maintain client relationships to ensure quality and budget compliance.
- Oversee project scope and resource allocation.
- Promote integrated design approaches.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and industry standards.
**Business Development & Client Engagement**
- Identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships.
- Represent the firm in professional organizations and networking events.
**Team Development & Mentorship**
- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Develop performance goals and recruit top talent.
- Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- **Education**: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
- **Experience**: 15+ years in architecture, 8+ years in a leadership role.
- **Licensure**: Licensed Architect with NCARB certification (required). LEED AP, WELL AP preferred.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
- Experience with project management tools like Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Experience with AI-driven tools for task planning and project execution.
