Position Overview: The Environmental Compliance Specialist will engage directly with clients and prospects to understand their challenges and develop tailored solutions. This role involves maintaining and expanding relationships with clients, prospects, subconsultants, vendors, and potential recruits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with prospects and clients to identify their needs and develop customized proposals.
- Manage projects and programs of varying sizes, scopes, and durations.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors, and peers.
- Produce high-quality, well-written reports and work products.
- Achieve personal utilization goals.
- Mentor and manage staff to help them achieve their goals.
- Consult with clients to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, reduce risk, and achieve desirable outcomes. This includes:
- Knowledge of regulations related to EPA, DTSC, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and Air Quality Management Districts.
- Preparing and managing reports and plans such as Sampling Reports, Work Plans, Management Plans, Health and Safety Plans, etc.
- Conducting compliance audits, assessments, due diligence, investigations, surveys, and inspections, and executing recommended corrective actions.
- Familiarity with regulations related to hazardous materials/wastes, air emissions, industrial wastewater, groundwater, and stormwater practices.
- Developing and delivering applicable training.
- Collaborate with the Principal of Environmental Compliance and the business development team to identify new business prospects.
Experience and Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Environmental Sciences/Studies, Geology, Engineering, or related disciplines and/or 7-10+ years of experience in environmental consulting.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
- Working knowledge of construction management, reading blueprints, MS Office, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in developing air, wastewater, groundwater, and material sampling strategies and performing sampling to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Experience in developing and supporting environmental compliance programs and conducting training.
- Experience in complying with EPA, DTSC, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, Air Quality Management Districts, and other environmental regulations, and working with these regulatory agencies.
- Experience in project management and managing client relationships.

- Ability to sell environmental compliance consulting services is a plus.
