Job Description
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the environmental approvals process for our clients. Working closely with project teams and regulatory authorities, you will provide strategic guidance, expert advice, and ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations. Your role will involve conducting thorough environmental assessments, preparing comprehensive reports, and leading the coordination efforts with stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals for a wide range of projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the environmental approvals department, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to a team of consultants.
- Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments (EIA) and develop strategies to mitigate potential environmental risks.
- Coordinate and prepare environmental permit applications, ensuring compliance with local, state/provincial, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning, design, and implementation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and regulatory agencies throughout the approvals process.
- Conduct stakeholder engagement activities and facilitate public consultations to address environmental concerns and build consensus.
- Stay informed about emerging environmental regulations, policies, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and promote sustainability.
- Provide technical expertise and support during project reviews, inspections, and audits.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders to enhance the company's reputation and business opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on environmental approvals and permitting.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental impact assessment processes, regulatory frameworks, and permitting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading a team of environmental professionals.
- Strong understanding of environmental management systems, environmental legislation, and industry standards.
- Proven track record of successful completion of complex environmental approvals projects across various sectors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in environmental assessment software, GIS tools, and data analysis.
