Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Water/Wastewater Project Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. The ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineer (PE) license and a strong technical background in water and wastewater infrastructure design. This role focuses on planning, designing, and delivering high-quality solutions for municipal and industrial clients, utilizing cutting-edge engineering tools and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Design: Prepare detailed designs for water distribution, wastewater collection, treatment systems, and stormwater infrastructure.
- Technical Analysis: Perform hydraulic modeling, system assessments, and other technical analyses to ensure project efficiency and reliability.
- Software Utilization: Develop and review designs using software tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and WaterCAD/SewerCAD. Additional proficiency in GIS and InfoWater is highly desirable.
- Project Coordination: Work collaboratively with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Construction Support: Provide technical assistance during construction phases, including reviewing contractor submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into designs and deliverables.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, design calculations, specifications, and other required documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa (or have the ability to obtain it within 6 months).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the design and analysis of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Software Skills:
- Required: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterCAD, and SewerCAD.
- Preferred: ArcGIS, InfoWater, StormCAD, and SWMM (Storm Water Management Model).
- Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera is a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of water treatment processes, wastewater systems, and related infrastructure components.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and interpret data for system optimization.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to clients and stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and mentor junior staff members.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in designs and documentation.
