We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated design engineer to join our team locally. The position involves contributing expertise in water/wastewater/recycled water projects within the Southern California municipal market.
Role Accountabilities:
- Provide technical expertise to our engineering team in Southern California.
- Support design and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, storm water systems, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations.
- Develop construction documents and specifications.
- Ensure projects meet established budgets and timelines.
- Collaborate with clients to assess requirements and propose solutions; potentially lead design teams.
- Coordinate project execution with other engineering disciplines and office personnel.
- Manage design projects from inception through completion.
- Prepare comprehensive construction packages for water/wastewater systems.
- Generate project cost estimates and schedules.
- Conduct detailed engineering calculations and utilize design software for complex problem-solving.
- Supervise CAD staff and ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design and construction support of water/wastewater facilities.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong technical proficiency in water/wastewater engineering.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional technical writing abilities.
- Experience in reviewing and preparing project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Client relationship management skills preferred. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Current PE License in California, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- Experience with design-build projects.
- Active involvement in professional associations at regional or national levels.
- Previous roles as Task Lead, Task Manager, or Design Lead on water/wastewater projects of varying sizes.
