Position Overview:
We are looking for a Water Resources Engineer with 3-8 years of experience in the water resources field. The ideal candidate will have experience with hydraulic modeling, hydrologic calculations, stormwater systems, and regulatory compliance. The candidate must be an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), with a preference for those who also hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of critical projects related to flood risk management and stormwater challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid work environment with a supportive, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review project submittals for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and hydrologic calculations for flood risk assessments and stormwater management systems.
- Utilize ArcGIS and other relevant software to create stormwater maps and analyze water flow patterns.
- Ensure all project designs and reports adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on water resources projects to maintain high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Assist in the creation of technical reports, proposals, and client presentations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-8 years of experience in water resources engineering.
- Strong proficiency in hydraulic modeling, hydrologic calculations, and stormwater mapping.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS and other stormwater management software.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and technical standards related to water resources.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or the ability to obtain one.
- Familiarity with local Northern Virginia water resources regulations and infrastructure.
- Experience with floodplain management and stormwater modeling software.
