Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and supervise engineering professionals and technicians.
- Design high voltage substations, including:
- General arrangement, equipment layout, and elevations
- Bus and cable layout, calculations, and grounding design
- Shielding, facility lighting, and protection/control schematics
- Wiring, connection diagrams, and foundation layout
- Secondary containment design and protective relay settings
- Prepare calculations for fault analysis, grounding, lightning protection, transformer sizing, and auxiliary systems.
- Develop project specifications for materials, equipment, and construction.
- Conduct studies such as Arc Flash, System, Grounding, etc., and support electrical designs for street lighting and traffic signals.
- Select substation IEDs and interface with SCADA, communications, and security systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expertise in NEC and NESC code requirements.
- Knowledge of power equipment (switchgear, relays, transformers, etc.).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 5-10 years of high voltage substation design experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer, with willingness to obtain additional state licenses.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Utility industry experience.
