A local Washington State specialized consulting firm is searching for a Traffic Engineer to join their team in Tacoma, WA. This is a unique position for career stability offering a clear set of responsibilities and a supportive work environment, ensuring a balanced and manageable workload.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive traffic studies for both development projects and public infrastructure initiatives. This role requires a thorough understanding of traffic engineering principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct traffic impact studies and transportation analyses for a variety of development and public infrastructure projects.
- Collect and analyze traffic data, including traffic volume, speed, and accident statistics.
- Develop traffic models and simulations to predict future traffic patterns and assess the impact of proposed projects.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings, methodologies, and recommendations.
- Review and assess transportation-related aspects of development proposals and public infrastructure plans.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Provide expert advice on traffic control devices, signal timing, roadway design, and other traffic engineering matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in traffic engineering or transportation planning.
- Proficiency in traffic analysis software (e.g., SYNCHRO, HCS, VISSIM, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and standards.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with GIS and data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of sustainable transportation practices and principles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- PE is a plus but NOT required!
