Substation T&D Safety Manager
Location: Fredricks County, Maryland
Position Description: A leading electrical contracting firm is seeking a Substation T&D Safety Manager to plan, develop, and coordinate the safety and occupational health components of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments. This role involves assisting the Director of Safety, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with new hire general safety orientation
- Coordinate, conduct, and document safety meetings and on-site safety audits
- Support the Safety Director in preparing and implementing safety policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
- Monitor activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard
- Provide safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees
- Promote proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors, and correcting unsafe conditions
- Integrate safety into project plans by establishing safety goals and reinforcing safety policies and procedures
- Monitor safety compliance, creating awareness and setting priorities for continuous safety improvement
- Work with Operations Managers, Project Managers, and Superintendents to develop, implement, and monitor annual comprehensive Safety Plans
- Lead, coordinate, and document incident investigations, including detailed root cause analysis, sharing lessons learned, and tracking action items
- Monitor safety compliance and focus on continuous safety and DOT improvement
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations & subpart V
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Proven communication, organizational, presentation, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of confined space and excavation/civil work standards
- Transmission & Distribution system knowledge
- Management and training experience in Transmission & Distribution
Education:
- Degree/Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health or related field; equivalent experience considered
- CSP or CUSP certification
- OSHA 510, 500
- OSHA 10, 30

Annual Salary Range: $90k - $110k
