Position Summary: The successful candidate will leverage extensive structural engineering expertise to review, design, and renovate structures in collaboration with team members. This role involves coordinating structural analysis and design for both new construction and renovation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Structural Engineering Services: Lead structural engineering consulting services, including conducting investigations, performing analyses, designing solutions, and managing construction phases and special inspections.
- Design and Review: Review and design both new and existing building structures, utilizing 2D/3D structural design modeling software, and collaborate with team members to produce structural design documents and technical specifications.
- Structural Assessments: Perform investigations and analyses of existing structures, prepare long-term repair projections, and draft engineering summary reports for project managers to share with clients.
- Technical Supervision: Provide technical guidance and supervision to CAD/REVIT technicians on the project team.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and technicians assigned to projects to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Community Engagement: Engage with the engineering and local communities by participating in professional and community organizations, aligning with company values and supporting business development efforts.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on structural engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Professional Licensing: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Minnesota or other jurisdictions where the company operates, or the ability to pass the NCEES Principals and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam within 6 months of hire.
- Experience: 4-8 years of experience as a civil/structural engineer with expertise in designing steel, concrete, masonry, or wood framing systems.
- Preferred Skills: Experience in building envelope/waterproofing, including field assessments, analyses, and repair work.
- Field Capabilities: Ability to perform on-site field observations and physical testing as required.
- Communication Skills: Strong technical writing, detailing, and verbal communication abilities.
- Project Management: Ability to manage and transition between multiple projects effectively.
