An independent power producer is seeking a Director of Special Projects to lead its nuclear growth initiatives through strategic project management and development efforts. This role requires a seasoned project management professional to oversee complex nuclear projects, including uprates, new builds, and behind-the-meter innovations. The ideal candidate will have a successful history of managing large-scale nuclear projects, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and extensive industry expertise. Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic nuclear projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Define project scope, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with key stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Manage project budgets and resource allocation while maintaining strict cost controls and performance standards.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative solutions for capacity expansion and operational efficiency.
- Develop comprehensive risk management strategies to ensure project success and regulatory compliance.
- Implement top-tier project management methodologies to optimize execution and team performance.
- Provide executive-level reporting on project status, milestones, and strategic outcomes.
Education, Experience, & Skills
- 20+ years of relevant experience, including nuclear and commercial construction, project management, engineering, outsourcing, contract management, finance, nuclear operations, and business strategy.
- At least 5+ years of experience in nuclear construction with major projects exceeding $1B or uprates.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction (e.g., commercial buildings, nuclear sites) required.
- At least 5+ years in finance or project controls; previous division CFO experience preferred.
- 5+ years as a division business strategy lead.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- Senior Reactor Operator License or Certification required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.
- Significant travel required.
- Position located at the company's Sierra Office.
