Our Client is seeking an experienced and motivated environmental professional to support our growing environmental practice in our California offices.
Education and Experience
- 8+ years of professional expertise in Environmental, Engineering, or Land Use Planning.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in spearheading large-scale projects/programs for federal and state agencies, utilities, municipalities, and counties.
- AICP, LEED AP, or CEP certifications would be advantageous.
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering, urban planning, environmental policy, natural resources, environmental science, ecology, or a related field are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents, ranging from Initial Studies to Environmental Impact Reports.
- Address and resolve environmental compliance and regulatory challenges concerning planning, energy, infrastructure, and public works projects across northern California.
- Ensure the highest standards of quality for all marketing materials and project outputs.
- Collaborate closely with clients and regulatory agencies to navigate compliance, advocate best practices, and secure permit approvals.
- Efficiently manage multiple projects concurrently, adhering to budget, scope, and timeline parameters.
- Play an active role in cultivating new business opportunities with both current and prospective clients.
- Cultivate and nurture client relationships to foster repeat business.
- Craft proposals, engage in client interviews, and secure major energy, infrastructure, and public works projects from federal, state, and local municipal clients.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated technical prowess and exceptional writing skills.
- Proficiency in marketing and business development to leverage existing client networks and elevate Aspen's presence and market share in the regional landscape.
- Track record of successful business development, evidenced by repeat business and established connections within the northern California domain.
- Thorough understanding and practical experience with CEQA/NEPA compliance and permitting in California, with a focus on northern California, particularly in:
- Power generation
- Electrical transmission and distribution
- Large-scale battery storage
- Wildfire risk reduction
- Water and public works projects
- Experience in development projects, general plans, specific plans, city ordinance reviews, and zoning and land use regulations.
- Proficiency in project coordination, environmental regulations application, and strong communication abilities.
- Client-centric approach with a keen responsiveness to customer needs.
- Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with familiarity in ArcGIS.
- Reputation for delivering high-quality work with meticulous attention to detail.
