Role
The company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Structural Engineer to join their Forensic Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in civil/structural engineering and a professional engineering designation. This role involves investigating the extent of damage within residential, commercial, and industrial sites, preparing necessary reports, managing multi-disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments, and liaising with various parties to ensure smooth project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate the extent of damage in civil/structural fields within residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
- Manage and work with multi-disciplinary teams on large and complex assignments.
- Research failure modes and code requirements as needed.
- Prepare all necessary reports and permit drawings outlining restoration/renovation work.
- Design and draft structural restoration for damaged residential buildings and new residential buildings.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and building owners to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Provide structural recommendations in well-written reports.
- Travel throughout Ontario and possibly other locations on short notice when needed.
Qualifications
- University degree in civil/structural engineering and P. Eng. designation.
- 6+ years of structural design experience, with a minimum of 3 years in wood frame construction.
- Project management and proven leadership experience.
- Construction/site experience in wood frame construction is an asset.
- Familiarity with CAD software.
- Familiarity with Part 9 of the OBC.
- Thorough knowledge of the OBC, Building Code Act, and other applicable legislation/construction standards is an asset.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
