Position Summary:
The Senior Engineer will utilize extensive structural engineering knowledge to review, design, and renovate projects in collaboration with team members. This role is integral to the project design team and involves coordinating structural analysis and design for both new and restoration construction projects. Through a personal to you Manager-in-Training Learning and Development Plan, the Senior Engineer will be trained to manage and develop local client relationships and lead the development of new team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead structural engineering consulting services, including investigation, analysis, design, and project management during the construction phase.
- Provide structural engineering review and design for new and existing building structures, using 2D/3D structural design modeling programs, and collaborate with team members to create structural design documents and technical specifications for construction.
- Conduct investigations and analysis of existing structures, including long-term repair projections and preparing engineering summary reports.
- Provide technical supervision and detailing to CAD/REVIT technicians on the project team.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other engineers and technicians assigned to projects.
- Meet with clients to discuss potential projects and prepare proposals, including work scope and engineering budgets.
- Contribute to the engineering and local communities by participating in professional and community organizations.
- Work with an MIT mentor to develop advanced client relationships and team leadership skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering, or equivalent with a structural engineering emphasis from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Minnesota or other jurisdictions where the firm operates.
- 6-12 years of experience as a civil/structural engineer with design experience in steel, concrete, masonry, or wood framing systems.
- Preferred candidates will have experience in building envelope/waterproofing, including field assessments, analysis, and repair.
- Ability to perform on-site field observations and physical testing as required.
- Strong technical writing, detailing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
