Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our established team in the MEP industry. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, with a proven track record in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy systems design. The role requires proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD to create detailed designs and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams. While a Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, it is not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design efforts for MEP projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Develop detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and design documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Perform load calculations, system sizing, and analysis for HVAC and plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with codes and energy-efficient design principles.
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, architects, and clients to define project scope, goals, and technical requirements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material specifications for mechanical systems.
- Conduct site inspections to verify the installation of mechanical systems and troubleshoot issues as necessary.
- Ensure that all designs meet relevant codes, standards (ASHRAE, NEC, local regulations), and sustainability goals.
- Develop project schedules, cost estimates, and manage project deliverables.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals, including conceptual design, cost estimates, and scope of work.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in sustainable building practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, particularly within the MEP sector.
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical systems design.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy management systems.
- Familiarity with energy modeling and sustainable design practices (e.g., LEED, WELL).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with team members, clients, and contractors.
- Experience in leading projects and managing resources.
- PE license (preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (ASHRAE, NEC, local building codes, etc.).
