The Senior Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for managing projects, preparing reports, writing specifications, designing foundations, conducting geotechnical calculations, and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage geotechnical projects, including engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration, and lab analysis.
- Engage in loss prevention and limitation of liability on assignments.
- Mentor Geotechnical and Staff Engineers.
- Evaluate ground conditions and their impact on design and construction.
- Design shallow and deep foundations and analyze slope stability.
- Perform deep foundation analysis for various pile types.
- Design shoring and bracing systems, tieback anchors, and retaining walls.
- Conduct seismic studies, including site class determination, liquefaction analysis, and site-specific spectral response analysis.
- Analyze group pile behaviour, soil-pile interaction, and lateral load and deflection.
- Develop and manage geotechnical lab testing programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master's or PhD in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred but not required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
- 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience in vertical construction and liability limitation.
- Ability to interact with clients and design teams during project phases.
- Proficient in project management and meeting business goals.
- Extensive knowledge of soil mechanics, geotechnical analysis, and lab testing.
