Job Description: Senior Fire Protection Engineer
We are currently seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Fire Protection Engineer in Perth. As a Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and managing fire protection engineering projects, providing technical expertise, and ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practices. Your primary goal will be to develop innovative fire protection solutions and strategies that enhance safety and protect lives and property.
Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage fire protection engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
- Design and Analysis: Develop and review fire protection system designs, including fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and smoke control systems, using advanced engineering principles and software tools. Conduct complex fire hazard assessments and analyze building plans to identify potential risks and develop effective fire protection strategies.
- Code Compliance: Stay updated on local, national, and international fire protection codes, regulations, and standards. Ensure that all fire protection system designs and installations comply with the relevant codes and standards.
- Technical Expertise: Provide expert advice and guidance on fire protection engineering matters to clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Participate in design reviews and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate fire protection systems into building designs.
- System Testing and Inspection: Oversee and conduct advanced tests and inspections on fire protection systems to ensure their proper functioning and compliance with regulations. Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments and develop fire safety plans for buildings and facilities. Identify and recommend measures to mitigate fire risks and improve overall fire safety.
- Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in fire protection engineering technologies, practices, and materials. Conduct research and development activities to enhance fire protection solutions and contribute to industry knowledge.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fire protection system designs, calculations, testing results, and project documentation. Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering, including designing and implementing complex fire protection systems.
- Professional certifications in fire protection engineering or related disciplines are highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes, regulations, and standards, especially those applicable in Perth and Western Australia.
- Proficiency in advanced fire protection engineering software and tools.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
