Senior Controls Engineer- Dayton, OH

Position Overview: Seeking a Controls Engineer for electrical hardware design, PLC, and HMI programming for custom automation projects, ensuring adherence to customer specifications, timelines, quality standards, and cost requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Controls Team, Electrical Designers, Electricians, and panel builders.
- Perform PLC programming, operator interface programming, and hardware design.
- Partner with application engineers to develop concepts and assist sales engineers.
- Conduct and manage internal and customer design reviews.
- Establish project milestones with the PM department.
- Provide cost estimates for controls design and build.
- Travel to customer sites as needed (10-15%).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Proficiency in PLC, HMI, and Ladder Logic Programming.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi systems.
- Familiarity with Micrologix and Guardlogix.
- Expertise in hardware design.
- Experience with Fanuc Robots.
- Willingness to travel (10-15%), primarily local with occasional international trips to Mexico (1 day - 2 weeks).
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Associate's Degree with proven experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical and controls work, machine tools, and automation.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to machine design, safety, risk, part handling, and robotic EOAT.
- In-depth knowledge of coordinated motion control technologies, PID setup, control and tuning, mechanical drive train design, including stepper motors, servomotors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Advanced proficiency in Rockwell Automation PLC programming platforms.
- Advanced skills in Rockwell Automation HMI development software: FactoryTalk View Studio ME, Studio 5000 View Designer.
- Experience in vision system programming.
- Experience in programming and integrating Fanuc and Yaskawa Robots, including robot pathing, internal I/O logic, interfacing with connected PLCs, and TCP/user frame teaching/adjusting.
