LVI is partnered with an employee-owned engineering consulting firm in search for a Building Enclosure Consultant! The firm is known for its expertise in building technology, structural and building envelope engineering, and materials science. The firm provides a wide range of services related to assessing, designing, and rehabilitating structures. They work on projects involving various types of buildings, including commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial structures.
Currently, they are looking for an experience consultant with prior experience or keen aspirations to step in as a Project Manager for their office located in Massachusetts. The optimal candidate is holding either a P.E. or R.A. license, or actively working towards obtaining one. This individual should possess extensive experience encompassing every facet of the building envelope - from waterproofing and roofing to repair design, forensics, construction, and diagnostic proficiency across diverse building enclosure systems within commercial projects.
Job Description:
- Consulting on existing facade design for enhancement or maintenance projects, including forensic review and analysis, bid document and repair detail preparation, directing the bidding phase, and construction administration. Proficiency in exterior wall construction is required.
- Collaborating with various departments on integrated internal services (proposal writing, internal tracking of budgetary project requirements).
- Communicating effectively and establishing relationships with clients and job-related management teams. Providing cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed.
- Advising architects and clients on building enclosure performance, constructability, and durability.
- Documenting and maintaining well-written reports on project-related activities.
Successfully managing projects and deliverables.
- Assisting with the oversight and review of Restoration Division staff's reports and project progress.
- Managing manpower and division technical needs and initiatives.
- Leading and mentoring staff or team members.
- Occasionally presenting white papers or case studies to technical teams.
- Performing all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with building envelope/enclosure and restoration projects.
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering.
- Knowledge of architectural design theories/concepts and local laws/codes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Inspection certificates preferred.
- Excellent PC skills and experience with Microsoft Word or similar document writing programs.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, proficient in problem-solving and multi-tasking.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture.
