Job Description
As a Heritage Architect, you will play a pivotal role in the preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and sites.
you will be responsible for developing and implementing architectural designs that respect and enhance the historical value of structures while incorporating modern functionality. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, historians, and preservationists to ensure the successful execution of projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of historical buildings, sites, and cultural landscapes.
- Develop innovative and sensitive design solutions for the preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historic structures.
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure adherence to project goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities, historic preservation agencies, and local communities to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
- Conduct field visits and inspections to assess the condition of historic structures and identify necessary repairs or restoration work.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to project teams throughout all phases of projects.
- Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in heritage preservation and architecture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heritage architecture, preferably working on historic preservation projects.
- Registered Architect
- Strong knowledge of architectural history, building materials, and construction techniques relevant to heritage structures.
- Proficiency in architectural design software and tools (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative and practical design solutions that respect the historical context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with local and national preservation guidelines, regulations, and best practices.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
