Job Description
As a Project Structural Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the structural engineer of record to create structural design solutions for buildings and structures, ensuring alignment with project goals and design criteria.
- Preparing and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and plans.
- Producing accurate and complete structural designs, and preparing structural drawings and details within budget and on schedule.
- Coordinating with the Project Manager to ensure assignments are completed within budgetary and time constraints.
- Reviewing the work of others as assigned.
- Communicating and interacting effectively with design team members.
- Developing basic designs for structural steel, concrete, masonry, and wood components and framing systems.
- Performing project activities under general supervision.
- Engaging in intermediate-level professional tasks to develop knowledge and skills.
- Executing a variety of technical tasks to gain experience and familiarity with engineering procedures, scientific methods, practices, standards, and company programs.
- Using prescribed methods to complete specific and limited portions of broader assignments under the guidance of an experienced engineer.
- Leading the design of smaller projects under the supervision of a project manager.
- Potentially handling external communications with consultants and/or clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Professional Registration: PE license required. SE license (Structural Engineer) certification favourable.
- 5-10 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Fundamental knowledge of structural design and computer analysis methods.
- Familiarity with structural design policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in design and analysis software related to structural engineering (AutoCAD, Revit, RISA preferred, or other engineering tools).
- Understanding of industry engineering standards and specifications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
