Job Title: Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Plant City, FL
Position Overview: As a Project Manager candidate, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of highway, roadway, paving, and heavy civil construction projects. You will be responsible for managing all project phases from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage construction projects, including but not limited to highway, roadway, paving, and heavy civil works.
- Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, and resources required.
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet project goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
- Perform cost estimation and budget management to control project costs.
- Review contracts, proposals, and change orders to ensure all terms and conditions are met.
- Manage project personnel, including assigning tasks, overseeing daily operations, and providing leadership.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, and upper management, to provide updates and address issues.
- Identify and resolve project risks and challenges promptly to minimize delays and disruptions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, including contracts, change orders, and meeting notes.
- Ensure project close-out processes are completed effectively, including final inspections and securing necessary approvals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project management within the civil construction industry, with a focus on highway, roadway, paving, or heavy civil works.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, including scheduling, budgeting, and procurement.
- Proven ability to manage complex construction projects and teams.
- Experience with project management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a field environment, including visiting job sites and outdoor conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry materials.
- Ability to climb ladders, walk on uneven surfaces, and work in elevated locations.
