Job Title: Civil Design Project Manager
Location: Hybrid (San Luis Obispo, CA)
About the Role: Our client, a prominent engineering firm, is looking for a Civil Design Project Manager. This position is perfect for seasoned designers who can independently manage projects with minimal supervision. The Project Manager will take on managerial tasks such as project scheduling, billing, budget tracking, and proposal preparation. Additionally, they will mentor and oversee one to two design engineers with support from senior leadership .
Qualifications:
Over 8 years of experience (or 4+ years in Project Management) in site development and design for various projects (e.g., Residential, Commercial, Mixed-use, Public and Private Entities, DSA-approved projects)
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution
California Professional Engineering (PE) License
Proficiency in advanced Civil 3D/AutoCAD design tools and other engineering software (e.g., HydroCAD, WaterCAD, AutoTurn)
Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with co-consultants and governing bodies
Experience in both general and complex civil engineering design
Knowledge of hydraulic/hydrology, storm water quality, geometric layout, geotechnical and structural analysis
Strong problem-solving, communication, and listening skills
Commitment to ethical practice standards
Key Responsibilities:
Learn and execute managerial aspects of assigned projects
Prepare billing invoices and monitor project budgets
Assist in preparing proposal addenda or additional service requests
Manage and mentor one to two team members with guidance from senior project managers
Evaluate team member performance and participate in reviews
Review (QC/QA) plans and supporting documents for preliminary and permit phases
Oversee various aspects of assigned projects from planning to construction
Determine project status and schedule deliverables to keep clients informed
Conduct project research and coordinate with governing bodies
Lead coordination with consultants for various design aspects of projects
Lead meetings, site visits, and field inspections as needed
Take full design responsibility for Site Development plans and documents
Perform and/or oversee design calculations and prepare project reports and supporting documents
