A firm is seeking a Project Architect with a passion for K-12 education design to join our team in Alexandria, VA. This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and execution of innovative, student-centered learning environments while collaborating with school districts, educators, and a multidisciplinary team of architects and consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design development, construction documentation, and coordination for K-12 school projects, including new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and community stakeholders to create engaging, flexible, and future-ready learning spaces.
- Ensure compliance with state and local education facility standards, building codes, and accessibility requirements.
- Integrate sustainable design strategies, safety considerations, and evolving educational trends into design solutions.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while providing mentorship to junior team members.
- Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and contractors to develop cost-effective, high-performance building systems.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Architect (or on track for licensure).
- 7+ years of experience in architectural design, with a strong focus on K-12 education projects.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and visualization tools (Enscape, Rhino, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of school design best practices, educational facility guidelines, and sustainability frameworks (LEED, WELL, or CHPS preferred).
- Experience with community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and public sector projects is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
