Join a leading engineering company's Cultural Resource Group to support various archaeological projects in the Southwest region. The ideal candidate will assist the field director with archaeological fieldwork, lab tasks, data entry, and report writing. Your role will also involve analyzing osteological materials for identification, analysis, interpretation, and report preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct archaeological field investigations, including testing, data recovery, monitoring, surveying, and documentation.
- Perform archaeological analyses in both field and lab settings, collecting and analyzing metric and non-metric data, completing analysis forms, and preparing information tables.
- Complete accurate standard field forms and maps for sites and features.
- Participate in artifact processing and data entry.
- Assist with the preparation of technical reports.
- Conduct comparative research and summarize findings.
- Prepare report chapters summarizing methods and results, addressing research questions, and discussing regional comparisons.
- Guide crew members on proper field methods and completion of field forms based on work plans or field manuals.
- Perform archaeological research and site file searches at various repositories (federal, state, tribal, and private).
- Communicate effectively with internal and external team members and the public.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in archaeology/anthropology. Must be SOI Qualified.
- At least three years of experience in Cultural Resource Management.
- Previous crew chief experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Southwest and/or Great Basin prehistory/history, archaeological methods, and theory.
- Experience in Arizona archaeology preferred.
- Experience with surveys, testing, data recovery, and/or monitoring.
- Proficient in using GPS and GIS applications (Tablet, ArcGIS Pro).
- Ability to generate and maintain accurate field records meeting state and federal standards.
- Demonstrated report writing experience.
- Understanding of applicable federal and state Cultural Resource Management/Historic Preservation laws is required.
