They are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Principal/Senior Manager (Archaeologist) to join their team. This candidate can be located in New South Wales, Victoria or South Australia. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading archaeological projects, collaborating with clients, and contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage archaeological projects from conception to completion, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverable.
- Fieldwork: Oversee fieldwork activities, including surveys, excavations, and site monitoring, to ensure adherence to industry standards and project requirements.
- Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct in-depth analysis and interpretation of archaeological findings, contributing to the development of cultural heritage management plans.
- Client Collaboration: Engage with clients, government agencies, and stakeholders to understand project goals and requirements, and provide expert advice on heritage matters.
- Report Writing: Prepare detailed and well-documented reports for clients, incorporating research findings, analysis, and recommendations in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Staff Supervision: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior archaeologists and field staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with heritage protection laws and regulations, and contribute to the development of strategies for mitigating the impact of development projects on archaeological sites.
- Community Engagement: Collaborate with indigenous communities and local stakeholders to promote cultural sensitivity and community involvement in heritage management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Archaeology or a related field.
- Experience (10+ years) in archaeological fieldwork, excavation, and analysis.
- Proven track record of managing and leading archaeological projects and teams.
- Strong understanding of heritage protection laws and cultural resource management practices in Australia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive reports and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
