Job Title: Preconstruction Director

Company: We are working with a leading mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC, electrical, and piping services for light industrial and commercial construction projects. Their operations span across the south and southwest US regions. Due to our exceptional growth and a strong backlog of work over the next four years, we are now looking to expand our team with a talented Preconstruction Director.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Preconstruction/Estimating Director to lead the preconstruction team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing and leading preconstruction personnel and estimators, with a minimum of five years of experience in this capacity. Additionally, the candidate should have over four years of experience estimating mechanical projects in the commercial and industrial spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the preconstruction team, including estimators and other personnel.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for commercial mechanical projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
- Develop and implement preconstruction strategies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to preconstruction team members.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience managing and leading preconstruction personnel and estimators.
- Over four years of experience estimating projects in the commercial mechanical space.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing or piping systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
