A leading player in the decarbonization sector is seeking a Piping Design Lead to manage the piping design of large or mega industrial facilities. This role involves overseeing piping and design aspects, collaborating with third-party resources such as EPC contractors and technology licensors. The Piping Design Lead ensures technical accuracy throughout all project phases, from conceptualization to construction. Responsibilities include ensuring cost-efficient design and optimizing solutions to maximize the use of modularized equipment, transferring construction activities from the field to the fabrication shop.
Piping Design Lead Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and technical expertise and support for piping and design.
- Supervise and offer guidance/assistance to internal and external project designers.
- Develop cost-effective solutions for executing design work.
- Prepare estimates, schedules, staffing requirements, workforce forecasts, and progress reports.
- Establish and monitor key material quantities, providing analysis and forecasts.
- Develop and review specifications, including design criteria.
- Participate in activities related to equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting.
- Analyze and independently recommend solutions to problems of varying complexity in alignment with organizational or project objectives and guidelines.
- Potentially serve as Piping Design Lead on one or multiple projects or handle moderate to complex design assignments.
- Collaborate with diverse individuals with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and high performance levels.
- Prioritize personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Perform other daily, weekly, monthly, or special projects as assigned.
Piping Design Lead Requirements:
- Experienced in managing piping design for large industrial facilities.
- Successfully coordinated third-party resources to design and optimize solutions, maximizing modularized equipment to shift construction from the field to the fabrication shop.
- Background in large EPC companies or facility operators within the large process industrial facilities sector.
- Skilled in communicating with diverse groups, including management, coworkers, EPC firms, vendors, High-Value Engineering Centers, module yards, and construction contractors.
- Knowledgeable about the commercial availability and cost of materials.
- Familiar with US construction practices and design optimization for construction.
- Practical field experience at both job sites and module yards.
- Advanced proficiency in Smart Plant 3D and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Experience leading small groups and multi-national engineering teams.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
