This role requires a diverse understanding of engineering principles, business development, and leadership. The consultant will be responsible for organizing, executing, and coordinating project assignments, which may include 3D modeling, advanced analysis, and design of industrial and non-industrial structures and components. The organization operates across multiple industries, including civil infrastructure, nuclear power, healthcare, dams and waterways, transportation, defense, pressure vessels and piping, as well as mechanical and electrical equipment. The position involves collaborating with stakeholders to assess challenges and develop scopes of work for proposals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate projects of moderate to high complexity with minimal supervision.
- Perform advanced structural engineering tasks.
- Monitor project scope, budget, and progress, providing regular updates.
- Delegate tasks effectively and provide clear instructions to team members.
- Oversee the preparation of technical reports and calculation documents.
- Review and validate engineering calculations and analyses.
- Serve as a technical resource for engineering staff.
- Support senior management in securing repeat business through effective client engagement.
- Represent the company at project meetings, often as the sole technical representative.
- Collaborate with technical leadership to address complex engineering challenges.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality control policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Project management experience in areas such as solid mechanics, steel, concrete, seismic design/analysis, advanced structural analysis, structural dynamics, and finite element analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability using data, logic, and judgment.
- Proficiency in structural engineering codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, ACI, and AISC.
- Experience with engineering and analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, LS-DYNA, Matlab, and Mathcad).
- Strong organizational skills to manage projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to review and refine technical documents produced by engineering teams.
